In Memoriam of Joshua E. McHughes, the former law partner of The McHughes Law Firm, PLLC left his earthly home on February 16, 2024.
Joshua Edgar McHughes was born on February 21, 1941, to Josh W. and Verna McHughes. He was a Little Rock native and attended Central High School. He was a lifelong member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
He matriculated from the Bowen School of Law’s first graduating class after having been denied his senior year of high school at Central High School in 1958, due to Little Rock’s being the site of the first important test of the U. S. Supreme Court’s historic Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka 347 U.S. 483 (1954) decision. He was one of the founding member of The McHughes Law Firm, PLLC. He enjoyed the practice of law for over 57 years, and was recognized by the University of Arkansas Bowen School of Law on 50 years of practice. He was a member of the Arkansas Bar Association and the Pulaski County Bar Association. In 2019, he left the McHughes Law Firm, PLLC.
In 2000, he adopted Charles Joshua Logan and Destiny Lynn Logan as his very own children and was actively involved in their extracurricular activities, including football and softball. He even coached a girls softball team one season. He believed in giving opportunity to others to lift them up and helped many to attain or further their education.
He is survived by his son, Charles Joshua Logan (Josh), Daughter in law Leah Logan, two grandchildren, Grayson J. Logan and Asher J. Logan of Bella Vista, Arkansas, daughter, Destiny L. Logan-McHughes of Little Rock, Arkansas, his sister Audrey Smith of Little Rock, nephew, Clayton Smith and his wife Stephanie, and child, Eliza Smith all of Little Rock. He also leaves behind a host of other friends and colleagues.
